In Loving Memory
"Maggie"

I was raised on the beautiful coast of Oregon. As far back as I can remember we always had a dog. From Ivanho and Katie, our Airdales, to Penny and Max, our mutts. I was never without a dog.

I have always been an artist, always with the ability to draw whatever I saw. I took it a step further and went back to school at Southwestern, in Coos Bay, Oregon. After receiving my AA, I moved to Monmouth where I continued at Western Oregon University. In 2000 I received my Bachelor's Degree, majoring in Art.

I had painted with oils all my life but found my love of Charcoal in the creation of Maggie (pictured above). Maggie was a beautiful Landseer Newfoundland whose owner, Naomi helped me learn everything I needed to know about this magnificent breed. As a way to thank her, I did a portrait of Maggie, whom Naomi had lost a few years before. It was Maggie's portrait that started it all.

I no longer have my Newfoundlands but I do still have a dog or two by my side. Now as I work in my studio, my toy poodle, Emily Elizabeth never leaves my side, as she sleeps under my ease while I draw or under my desk as I write. My Rottie, Ares is always sleeping by the door, making sure he can see what happens outside while warm and cozy inside. A life without a dog is no life for me!
