In Loving Memory
"Maggie"

I was raised on the beautiful coast of Oregon. As far back as I can remember we always had a dog. From Ivanho and Katie, our Airdales, to Penny and Max, our mutts. I was never without a dog.

I have always been an artist, always with the ability to draw whatever I saw. I took it a step further and went back to school at Southwestern, in Coos Bay, Oregon. After receiving my AA, I moved to Monmouth where I continued at Western Oregon University. In 2000 I received my Bachelor's Degree, majoring in Art.

I had painted with oils all my life but found my love of Charcoal in the creation of Maggie (pictured above). Maggie was a beautiful Landseer Newfoundland whose owner, Naomi helped me learn everything I needed to know about this magnificent breed. As a way to thank her, I did a portrait of Maggie, whom Naomi had lost a few years before. It was Maggie's portrait that started it all.

Now as I work in my studio, I am surrounded by the Newfoundlands I love and breed. While the others play outside in the pond and lounge on my deck, Sabine, my favorite, never leaves my side. She can always be found at my easel or under my desk when I am working.
